SME Pivot Award Nomination Form Step 1 of 9 11% ABOUT THIS AWARD: The SME Pivot Award sub-category award is bestowed to a business which has changed its model to ensure viability and sustainability during and after the COVID-19 Pandemic. The business community has risen to the unparalleled challenges faced in light of COVID-19 with huge admiration. In the true spirit of acknowledging the efforts, innovation and sheer determination shown by so many SMEs in Trinidad and Tobago, this specific award was created to celebrate the successes of those businesses which have turned the most difficult of times into opportunities. Their efforts deserve to be recognised and will not only help to bolster our economy going forward but, will also provide inspiration to both current and future generations throughout the country. This award category is sponsored by The Trinidad and Tobago Unit Trust Corporation. CRITERIA The nominee must be, The business being nominated must be a registered business operating in Trinidad and Tobago. The business being nominated must provide proof of an asset base of TT $250,000 (excluding real estate) and sales of TT $1,000,000. The business being nominated must show how it has changed its operational model or product/service direction and successfully revamped their business strategy. The business must have noticeably made a mark in the field and led the way for other industry players to follow. Please note that there are no finalists for this category. Only 1 company will be selected, emerging as the award recipient and will be announced on the night of the finale of the Champions of Business Awards event. THE SELECTION PROCESS Once nominations close all submissions are screened by the Events Unit of the Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Industry and Commerce (T&T Chamber) to ensure that all required fields have been completed and that sufficient information is provided. In some cases, the Events Unit may contact the person who submitted the nomination to verify information. The Trade and Business Development Unit then receives the nominations to conduct background checks. Once this screening process is complete eligible nominations will be prepared for the 1st Selection Committee meeting.This usually takes place at the T&T Chamber and comprises of the President, the Senior Vice President, The Immediate Past President, and up to 3 members of the business community (non-Board members). The CEO serves as Secretary to the meetings but does not have voting privileges.The meeting is also attended by management team members of the T&T Chamber Secretariat for the purposes of providing perspective and input, however, they too do not have voting rights. Submissions are reviewed and a first shortlist is created at the end of this meeting. If more information is required, then requests will be made to the person who submitted the nomination to do so or the T&T Chamber may contact the nominee (if not the same) directly. A 2nd Selection Committee meeting is then set to vote on the final choice for the SME Pivot Award, sponsored by The Trinidad and Tobago Unit Trust Corporation. The CEO of the T&T Chamber then informs the proposed recipient and confirms that they agree to accept. A formal letter is then sent and the process to prepare for the Finale Awards event then begins. This includes, photography, interviews, video-taping, curation of visual materials and rehearsals.
