ABOUT THIS AWARD:
The Emerging Entrepreneur sub-category award is bestowed to an individual or business experiencing strong growth. The business would have been founded within the last 10 years. This award category is sponsored by The Trinidad and Tobago Unit Trust Corporation.
The nominee must be an owner or leader of a private or public company with primary responsibility for the recent performance of the company, as well as be an active member of management. Non-founding entrepreneurs are also eligible if the individual manages the business and assumes the associated risks.
Please note that there will be 3 finalists for this category with 1 emerging as the winner and will be announced on the night of the finale of the Champions of Business Awards event.
Once nominations close all submissions are screened by the Events Unit of the Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Industry and Commerce (T&T Chamber) to ensure that all required fields have been completed and that sufficient information is provided. In some cases, the Events Unit may contact the person who submitted the nomination to verify information. The Trade and Business Development Unit then receives the nominations to conduct background checks. Once this screening process is complete eligible nominations will be prepared for the 1st Selection Committee meeting.This usually takes place at the T&T Chamber and comprises of the President, the Senior Vice President, The Immediate Past President, and up to 3 members of the business community (non-Board members). The CEO serves as Secretary to the meetings but does not have voting privileges.The meeting is also attended by management team members of the T&T Chamber Secretariat for the purposes of providing perspective and input, however, they too do not have voting rights.
Submissions are reviewed and a first shortlist is created at the end of this meeting. If more information is required, then requests will be made to the person who submitted the nomination to do so or the T&T Chamber may contact the nominee (if not the same) directly.
A 2nd Selection Committee meeting is then set to vote on the final choices for the Emerging Entrepreneur Award for 2020, sponsored by The Trinidad and Tobago Unit Trust Corporation.
The CEO of the T&T Chamber then informs the finalists and confirms that they agree to accept. A formal letter is then sent to the finalists and the process to prepare for the Finale Awards event then begins. This includes, photography, interviews, video-taping, curation of visual materials and rehearsals.
