Job Description:

The regulatory affairs monitoring officer is responsible for monitoring the legislative and regulatory
landscape for issues that may impact business operations, obligations etc, as well as business
development issues that may require the lobbying services of the T&T Chamber. The incumbent
would be responsible for engaging senior Government officials and senior business executives in the
coordination of policy positions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Works with the TBDU Manager to identify emerging issues that will impact member‚Ä®businesses and develop strategies for addressing them.‚Ä®
  • Research, track and report on policy developments in priority areas‚Ä®
  • Work with the Manager and CEO to engage senior Executives from within the Chamber‚Ä®membership and business community on key policy issues.‚Ä®
  • Represent the T&T Chamber at high-level meetings with senior officials.
  • Coordinate regulatory submissions – draft policy position papers, briefs, reports, meeting briefings, speeches and other materials relevant to the assigned project.¬†
  • Contribute content for internal and external updates, newsletters and social media or any other relevant approved platform.¬†
  • Conduct outreach to Chamber members to enhance the legislative and regulatory agenda.
  • Coordinate events/member forum to apprise members of the upcoming changes to the regulatory environment.¬†
  • Participate in targeted outreach beyond the Chamber‚Äôs membership and support efforts to expand the membership.
  • Act as liaison and support for Chamber‚Äôs sectoral ad hoc committees (e.g. Pharmaceuticals, Beverage Committee)
  • Liaise with agencies on regulatory matters that affect members (e.g. Trinidad and Tobago Bureau of Standards, Customs & Excise)

Qualifications / Skills:

  • Macroeconomics and its relationship to the trade and business development
  • Understanding of international trade agreements
  • Microsoft Suite- Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Access
  • Ability to multitask
  • Working knowledge of the local industry


Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor‚Äôs degree in law, political science, economics. A Master‚Äôs Degree would be an asset.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience working in a business environment, policy making environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Ability to work productively as a team-player in a fast- paced environment.
  • Knowledge of key issues affecting the business community
