Industrial Relations Committee
Mission Statement
The Industrial Relations Committee of the Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Industry and Commerce aims to promote good industrial relations and effective Human Resource Management practices, and a safe working environment within its member organizations and the wider business community by providing, immediate, up-to-date and relevant advisory and educational services in collaboration with expert stakeholders and institutions.
Objectives
Internal programmes involving:
• Training and development via seminars, workshops, luncheons or breakfast meetings and conferences focused on subjects relevant to industrial relations, Human Resource Management and HSE.
• The establishment of a database of Industrial Court Judgments for access by members and the wider public.
• The circulation of up-to-date highlights pertaining to Industrial Court judgments.
• Keeping the business community up to date and promoting best practices in IR, HRM and HSE
External Programmes geared towards the improvement of the socio-economic development of the country and involving:
• The preparation of comments/recommendations for the Chamber on new and pending legislation and, where appropriate, in collaboration with other business organizations such as the Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers Association and the Employers Consultative Association.
• The preparation of recommendations on new legislation where necessary.
• Representation of employers at the annual ILO Conference and other tripartite bodies at the national, regional and international levels.
• Advisory and Consultancy services in Industrial Relations, Human Resource Management and HSE.
• The identification of mechanisms for consultation, interaction and cooperation with the Industrial Court, the Ministry of Labour and the Occupational Safety and Health Authority.
